Rehearsing the shooting date.

In this scene, Stratton explains to Gracie how to shoot a rifle, not knowing she is a better shot than him.  In reality, Jolene knew very little about guns, and the bulk of the rehearsal was spent on shooting form.  After only a quick crash course in firearms, Jolene did an amazing job at coming off as a crack shot confident with a weapon.
